A new award given by the North American Thrombosis Forum which provides recognition to airlines that have made significant commitment to preventing DVT and raising awareness of its potentially fatal complications.
In light of DVT Awareness month in March, NATF is launching the DVT Free Flight Award to raise awareness and reduce the risk of developing DVT/PE while traveling.

NATF focuses on the prevention and awareness of DVT, some risk factors include: dehydration, immobilization, age, pregnancy, high-levels of estrogen, and obesity.
Airline passengers provide a captive audience for raising awareness about these risk factors. NATF's September 2009 preliminary survey was a step in partnering with the airline industry in raising awareness and preventing DVT.

Instructions:
NATF is looking for airlines that are the most creative and accurate in developing DVT/PE awareness messages using a vareity of mediums. Examples include: informational cards placed in the seat pockets on flight, an article on DVT/PE in the flight magazine, risk assessment sheet, PSA or other form of communication.

The DVT Free Flight Award will be presented to the airline company who provides the most creative and accurate information on the subject of DVT/PE to their passengers.
