The North American Thrombosis Forum is proud to have been selected by Eisai, Inc. to help develop the DVTeamCare(TM) Hospital Award. The DVTeamCareTM Hospital Award provides national recognition to hospitals that have made significant commitment to preventing DVT and its potentially fatal complications. NATF has been engaged to develop appropriate criteia, identify judges, and judge submitted applications.*
In 2009, twenty-two hospitals submitted nominattion for the DVTeamCareTM Hospital Award. The John Hopkins Hospital (Maryland) and the University of California, San Diego Medical Center tied as award recipients among hospitals with more than 200 beds. Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital was the award recipient among hospitals with less than 200 beds. Honorable Mentions were Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital Concord Hospital (New Hampshire) and Sturdy Memorial Hospital (Massachusetts) for hospitals more than and less than 200 beds, respectively.
Award winning strategies were persented at a will be announced shortly and the award winning strategies will be shared online and at a live Hospital DVT Prophylaxis Strategies Program on April 9, 2010 in Boston MA.

Three-judge panel selected by NATF
Joseph S. Alpert, MD: NATF Scientific Advisory Committee member and Professor of Medicine at the Univeristy of Arizona (Tucson, AZ) who is engaged in clinical research related to acute myocardial infarction, valvular heart disease, pulmonary embolism, and congenital heart disease in adults
John Fanikos, RPH, MBA: NATF Director and Treasurer, Assistant Director of Pharmacy, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Brigham and Women's Hospita( Boston, MA)
Michael B. Streiff, MD: AssociateProfessor of Medicine at John Hopkins Hospital (Baltimore MD) whose interested is treatment and prevention of venous thromboembolism, management of anticoagulation, management of hemophilia and other coagulation disorders: Dr Strieff is a member of the team awarded the DVTeamCare™ Hosptial Award in 2009 for hospitals greater than 200 beds
