July 2017 President’s Letter

This Summer marks NATF’s first foray into international educational programming.

In July 2017, NATF will host a program at the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH), a once-every-two-years meeting of about 9,000 physicians and scientists who specialize in clotting disorders.  This year, ISTH is meeting in Berlin.  The focus of the NATF program will be prevention of DVT and pulmonary embolism as well as how to manage bleeding complications for patients taking Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs).

In August 2017, NATF will host a symposium at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), which is being held this year in Barcelona.  This annual meeting draws about 40,000 cardiovascular specialists from around the world.  The focus of this program will be on prevention of venous thromboembolism and stroke among patients who are initially hospitalized with medical illnesses such as heart failure.

We are working hard to put the finishing touches on both programs.  After the live presentations are completed, the symposia will be posted on the Medscape and NATF websites.

Respectfully submitted.
