My family experience with DVT/PE:
On Saturday, September 17, 2005, my father passed away suddenly, at a healthy age of 59. As a physically fit, medicine and surgery free, former Navy Underwater Demolition Team member, it was hard to fathom that anything could take a healthy life like his so abruptly. Autopsy results weeks later revealed that he had suffered fatal left-sided pulmonary embolism, and that the time that elapsed between onset and death was merely minutes.
Why have I joined NATF?
My father’s death has inspired me to promote public awareness, elevate medical action and help prevent other devastating fatalities like his.
