Program Overview
The North American Thrombosis Summit 2010 is a comprehensive multidisciplinary overview of major issues concerning antiplatelet agents, new anticoagulant therapies for
venous and arterial thrombosis, insulin resistance on cardiovascular disease in Type II diabetes, optimal duration of VTE prophylaxis, thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, and anticoagulant drug safety. The Summit’s objective is to improve patient care through the advancement of thrombosis education. State-of-the-art presentations will incorporate perspectives from translational science, clinical research, prevention eorts, educational initiatives, public policy, and advocacy. A panel discussion with members of NATF’s Scientic Advisory and Advocacy Committees is incorporated into the agenda. More than 30% of the
curriculum is devoted to discussion, questions, and answers. The course will integrate viewpoints from academic, community, government, and patient perspectives.
Target Audience
This program is intended for patients, advocates, oce-based physicians, hospitalists, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physician
assistants, hospital administrators, and policy makers. This Activity been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and
policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The University of Utah School of Medicine and the North American Thrombosis Forum (NATF). The University of Utah School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
AMA Credit: The University of Utah School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses: Application for nursing continuing education credit for the North American Thrombosis Summit 2010 has been submitted to the Utah Nurses Association (UNA) for consideration. UNA is an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Pharmacists: The University of Utah College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Application is pending for this program. This program is designed for all pharmacists.
