Stopping the VTE Epidemic: An Innovative, Cutting Edge, and State-of-the-Art Action Plan

Sponsored by the North American Thrombosis Forum and Lankenau Medical Center

This free symposium offers attendees insight into the most recent medical research and innovation in the field of venous thromboembolism.  This program, taught by key opinion leaders, will focus on helping our most vulnerable patients.

This program will drill down on detailed strategies to protect hospitalized patients from PE, DVT, and stroke.  The program will address the critical role of the hospitalist and other providers who care for hospitalized medically ill patients in developing protocols to maximize the quality of care of VTE patients, the do’s and don’ts of transitioning care from the hospital to the home, and the management of bleeding complications from non-warfarin anticoagulants.

At the conclusion of this program, attendees will be able to:

  • Have the knowledge and tools to improve the lack of awareness around the critical unmet need in VTE prophylaxis and treatment at their institution.
  • Implement successful transitions of care from hospital to discharge to post discharge prophylaxis that ensure protection of vulnerable medically ill patients
  • Understand the management of NOACs and reversibility in the unlikely event of bleeding.

This event is part of NATF’s “Avoiding the Avoidable: Pathways for VTE Prevention in the Vulnerable Medically Ill” program series.
